The anonymous developers of the free and hugely popular TrueCrypt disk encryption program dropped a bombshell at the end of May when they abruptly abandoned the project. ![]() This is indeed true as it states in the (Section VI.2): Update: TrueCrypt is not longer supported nor developer since May 2014, and is NOT secure as it may contain unfixed security issues. #Truecrypt 7.2 is it secure software#The TrueCrypt software is under a poor license, which is not only non-free, but has the potential to be actively dangerous to end users or distributors who agree to it, opening them to possible legal action even if they abide by all of the licensing terms, depending on the intent of the upstream copyright holder. ![]() There will probably be a fork of TrueCrypt later on.Be advised that according to the Fedora Project's "" page: #Truecrypt 7.2 is it secure full#At the moment, most importantly, they have the full collection of versions of TrueCrypt and all of the source code. Update: there is a Swiss website trucrypt.ch that promises to keep TrueCrypt alive.
